[There is a distressingly long pause between this message and the next.]
A person calling themselves "nolongerhuman" suggested that we were not intimate enough. (Though, I cannot say if he meant something else.) But we are, are we not? Considering our current circumstance.
[Erina's sent along a small cake to Jonathan's lodgings and a card. There is also a carefully wrapped bar of dark chocolate festooned with a large, light-blue ribbon. The card reads:
"Happy birthday, my love!
I have further plans for you, but please enjoy these small tokens of my affection in celebration of your natal day.
[His roommate will find a nice little gift on their kitchen counter. Who's it from??? Who knows. Maybe the Italian will give him away-that 'Buon Compleanno' written on a small piece of paper kind of hard to deny, but listen.
Shut up.
There's a bottle of japanese wine, a little bag of chocolate, and a collar fit for a certain Pesto that just so happens to match the pattern on one of Jonathan's outfits. Don't ever @ him about this.]
Hey, this is Jolyne--just in case you were wondering before I got too far into this thing.
So, umm... there's something I may have forgotten about previously, and I feel like maybe I should talk to you about it first. It's kind of weird, but I don't want you being like surprised or anything right?
Anyway, so the deal is that I'm engaged. That's not the weird part I guess, people get engaged every day.
But, ummm... I guess it's the person I should tell you about. I... should probably let you absorb this first. Because this is just awkward. And embarrassing.
Also, I still haven't told my dad because he might freak out.
You are engaged? But that's simply wonderful news! Our warmest congratulations!
If I had known then Erina and I would have sent you a gift. [ Listen, he's Victorian. There's Proper ways of doing things, however late he's finding this out. ]
I am sure Jotaro would not be anything but a proud father and happy for you.
Jojo, I believe that we ought to fully enjoy the festivities and take a little trip to Hokkaido properly. I believe it will be a bit nicer, now that they've defeated that monster there.
[ Smart, indeed! Not that it's stopping him making that puppy expression at what he's reading, regardless of her not being able to see it. Just as well. ]
Ah, of course. You're speaking the most sense as usual, my love. Perhaps it wouldn't be quite practical at any rate.
Not quite, but there's nothing that says we can't someday take him in the future.
Speaking of the future, I'm having a carpenter come to see if we can't lift the door frames a bit. If I have to duck and sometimes hit my head, I can't imagine you are having a good time trying to navigate the house in the dark.
[It's her very lovely husband's very lovely birthday, and Erina has risen early to make sure that everything she's plotted will go to plan. She's been especially sneaky in the last week or so, spending more time in parts of their home that haven't seen as much use as normal, keeping him away from their cupboards when he strays too close.
All is revealed in the morning, when Jonathan wakes up and is presented with a gift: a leatherbound notebook for her scholarly gentleman, the warm leather embossed with a pattern of wisteria and sun shafts. It is full of fresh, well-made paper for all his note taking and drawing needs.
Not only that, there is a new kimono set for him, in a dark navy, all ready for the spring season as it moves into summer, especially made to keep him nice and cool.
And most importantly, there is a chocolate cake ready for consumption for breakfast. It is, after all, his birthday.]
[ You had him at chocolate cake for breakfast. Definitely not something that would be approved of normally.
Jonathan is beaming from ear to ear when he sees all of the trouble that his lovely wife has gone through for him. He's taking her into the biggest, warmest embrace the moment he can get close to her. ]
[ Sorry, Erina. It's all too easy for Jonathan to get distracted by chocolate cake and forget that he has other gifts to open. He releases her from his big embrace somewhat reluctantly, still beaming. ]
Of course.
[ First the notebook - anything book shaped is bound to draw him in first. ]
Ah, this is wonderful! The pages are very fine. Just when my current journal has almost been filled up too.
[She grinned as she stepped back and out of the way,] I spied your frowning face when you were looking over the amount of pages you had left, and was very picky... I didn't realize how many types of paper they had available. It was quite an adventure sneaking around you to test them all last week. Though I think that Pesto got the benefit of it the most, as I took him on many walks.
[And that meant they got a nice, tired shiba instead of an over energetic dog. Lucky them.]

I spoke to someone on the network earlier, who stated that you may have certain needs I am not fulfilling.
I was hoping that you could expand upon that, as I believed things have been well between us.
no subject
"Needs"? I am sure I don't quite understand what they mean... Who was this person?
Of course things have have been well between us! More than well! They have been wonderful.

Of course - I should have asked you sooner but there has been such a lot going on. I would be happy to host, unless you would like me to come to you?

4/4 For Jojo!

Erina, all of this for me?

The cake may not be very good... but I did my best.
[Erina presses her face against his chest and squeezes him back.]
If it isn't, at least the icing will be. But open your gifts, please?

Of course.
